YouNote ("the extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension that lets you take
timestamped notes on YouTube videos and review them in a personal dashboard. This
policy explains what data the extension handles, why, and your choices. We keep data
collection to the minimum needed to provide the feature.
Information we collect
Account information: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive
your email address and basic profile information (name and profile picture) to create
your account and sync your notes.
Your content: The notes, timestamps, and tags you create, along with the
ID and title of the YouTube video each note belongs to.
Authentication data: A secure session token that keeps you signed in.
We do not collect your browsing history, keystrokes, or activity on pages
other than the YouTube notes you deliberately create.
How we use your information
To save your notes and sync them across your devices.
To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
To display your notes on the relevant YouTube videos and in your dashboard.
We use your data only to provide the extension's single purpose. We do not
use it for advertising or profiling.
How your data is stored
Your account and notes are stored securely using Supabase, our backend
and database provider, protected by row-level security so that only you can access your own
notes. If you use the extension without signing in, your notes are stored locally in your
browser only, and are uploaded to your account if you later sign in.
Data sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
We do not transfer your data to third parties except our infrastructure
providers (Supabase for storage, and Google for sign-in) strictly to operate the service.
We do not use or transfer your data for purposes unrelated to YouNote's
single purpose, and never to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
If you choose to share a note via a share link, only the notes you explicitly share
become accessible to anyone holding that link.
Your choices and rights
You can delete any note at any time from the dashboard.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us.
You can use the extension anonymously (without signing in); in that case your notes
stay on your device.
Data retention
We retain your notes and account data for as long as your account exists. When you delete
a note or your account, the associated data is removed from our database.
Children's privacy
YouNote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating
the "Last updated" date above.
